Degree-seeking Students

Students who have achieved a minimum of an associate or baccalaureate degree are only required to submit an official transcript from the degree‑granting institution, unless coursework earned at other institutions is to be considered for transfer toward earning a degree or fulfilling prerequisites.
 
Students receiving VA Educational Benefits may be required to submit military transcripts and official transcripts from all prior colleges attended. 
 
Students applying for Federal Student Aid may be required to submit official transcripts from all prior colleges attended.

  • Required Assessment Score (Ability-to-Benefit Test)

Please note that students receiving VA Educational benefits may be required to submit military and all prior college transcripts. Students applying for Federal Student Aid may be required to submit all prior college transcripts. 

Ability-to-Benefit

Applicants who do not possess a high school diploma or GED® certificate may be admitted under the Ability‑to‑Benefit provision. Applicants applying to H. Councill Trenholm State Community College under this provision must pass the Ability-to-Benefit Test. The College will notify all applicants prior to enrollment each semester of the time, date, and place for the scheduled Ability-to-Benefit examination. The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2012 (Public Law 112-74) eliminated eligibility to receive Title IV student financial aid assistance to ability-to-benefit students without a high school diploma or GED or who have not completed secondary education in a home school setting that is treated as a home school or private school under State law and have not obtained a home school completion credential effective July 1, 2012. Therefore, new students seeking enrollment without a high school diploma or recognized equivalent (GED) or who fail to meet the home or private school requirement will no longer be eligible to receive federal financial aid as of July 1, 2012. If testing or retesting for the Ability-to-Benefit, all three test sections must be taken in one testing session. A fee for retaking the Assessment must be paid in the Cashier's Office. Please discuss taking a retest with testing personnel before paying the fee. Retest scores will replace previous scores.
