Trenholm State Community College’s Workforce Development division provides short-term, industry-aligned training designed to quickly prepare individuals for employment and career advancement. The division focuses on responsive, flexible programming that meets the needs of both job seekers and regional employers, creating clear pathways into high-demand careers while supporting economic growth across the River Region.

Non-credit offerings focus on fast-track programs in high-demand fields, particularly healthcare, transportation, and utilities. Healthcare programs such as Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medication Assistant, Phlebotomy Technician, Pharmacy Technician, and Medical Billing and Coding equip students with practical, job-ready skills in a matter of weeks or months. The Trenholm State Line Worker Training provides the necessary skills and qualifications desired by utility companies and contractors in the Central Alabama region. The course offers hands-on instruction in electrical and telecommunications infrastructure, as well as Commercial Driver’s License training, OSHA 10, CPR/First Aid and more. The Trenholm State Commercial Truck Driving (CDL) Training is designed to prepare the student to operate vehicles requiring a commercial driver’s license. The six-week, non-credit Truck Driving program utilizes the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) model curriculum as the foundation for training and takes the student from basic through the advanced operation of a tractor/trailer. Skills for Success at Trenholm State Community College is a workforce training initiative led in partnership with the Alabama Community College System (ACCS) Innovation Center that provides no-cost, hands-on training to Alabamians in high-demand career fields, helping address critical workforce skills gaps. The program utilizes a hybrid model that combines self-paced online learning with in-person, hands-on instruction delivered on campus.
